Any help much appreciated to identify these European Fritillaries (family Nymphalidae). Please let me know if underside photos are required to confirm identification and I'll take some...thanks in advance for any help! Simon First pair - from France (Cote d'Azur, Provence).

I've always used a (sharp) number 3 pin to move wings when setting...I find having a sharp pin helps in that the point pushes against the vein better than a blunt pin. I suppose you have to be a bit careful to make sure that you push against the vein without putting a hole in the wing but having properly relaxed (or, of course, fresh) specimens helps... ...by the way - I could never understand how (some of you guys)manage to set by moving wings with forceps..? Simon PS - I suppose the old adage of finding a technique that suits you applies here...

Hey Simon,
I have the same problem around my place. The wife and kid love the pets but I am the only one that gets to feed and clean up after them. The rabbits think I am a personal servant or unpaid intern! I think the fish are grateful...in my house it's my six year old that already thinks I'm her servant...tonight she asked me to get her a drink and then said "and make it snappy"!!!!! Simon

2 goldfish that my six year old daughter begged and begged to have...and which she's barely even looked at since!!! Guess who has to feed them every day and clean the tank weekly? Simon

Nice box of specimens JMG.
My UK/European collection - 95% self caught/5% exchanges, purchases or gifts from friends. My "rest of the world" collection - 100% purchased.

$290... If this sells at this price it just goes to prove the old adage "a fool and his money are easily parted"... Simon
