I believe that strictly speaking you have to get a pre cities permit unless the specimens are very old.

Yes that sounds reasonable security protecting both the visiting enthusiast and also for museum itself being the custodian of collections that usually are gifted to it by a member of the public. The other point is that the museums are maintained out of the public's purse. As such the public should not be prevented from reasonable access to collections which you rightly say should not be hoarded so they cannot be studied by proper enthusiasts.

Adam. Understood. The point I was trying to make is that with Western Union there is no recourse for the seller in this instance. However with Paypal I believe that the seller would have been able to do something when the fraud was discovered.

Nice ones too even if from an old collection. Interesting though that none of the various sellers use the correct descriptive titles for their specimens. Modesty I think not!

The difficulty is that the buyers have innocently paid following receipt of the invoices. Paypal for these transactions is clearly the safest way to go in future for both parties. I always worry when a seller states Western Union for payment. It is expensive with no recourse available if fraud happens as in this case.

On the face of it collecting 2,850 specimens from the same area, over a few days, does not seem very scientific. What were they planning to do with the hundreds and hundreds of duplicates?

Yes 2856 specimens from a protected area seems very excessive even if you are a scientist.

One of my friends is a pilot with the Red Arrows display flying team. Tag Heuer sponsor them and give all the pilots watches which have a GPS function in case they crash.
