I just returned from a collecting trip in Serbia. I wanted to relax some of the butterflies in papers. I placed 4 I.podalirius, 2 N. antiopa and 2 N. polychloros together in a relaxing box. After a day and a half I tried to set them. All 4 of the Nymphalidae were perfectly relaxed and spread. All the podalirius were not and have gone back into another relaxing box. All were of a similar size but the differing lenghts of time is surprising. Have others experienced the same differences in similar sized butterflies?

As a lawyer and from the statements detailed it seems that this might be more than just a simple misunderstanding especially as the missing beetles are apparently now for sale. As you suggest a strongly worded email, referring to the availabibility of the said beetles, would be in order.

Yes the wide choice of livestock at the AES show is about its only redeeming factor.

As an Englishman it hurts me to say that Juvisy is far preferable to the AES show due to the number of dealers, the variety of specimens and the fact that it is over 2 days. The AES show is only for a few hours. The food in Paris is is also better.

Has the Cites legislation now changed regarding the sale of P. hospiton? I raise this in the light of a new ebay listing for a pair of endemic "swallowtails from Corsica" by p.apollo from Czech Republic. Does this mean it is now not necessary to be put to the cost and secrecy of a trip to Corsica only to be poisoned by the dreadful foodplant?

I think Olivier can help. He previously helped me buying specimens from Japan on bidders.
