We had an infestation of them at our high school in central Illinois when I was attending. There was a termite infestation under the stage in the auditorium & they surmised that is what attracted them. Here is a link containing the story. www.natureatcloserange.com/2008/10/brown-recluse.html

It ended with no bids. He probably sold it locally for who knows how much. It is quite unusual to find a live one in January though, unless he is rearing them inside. The earliest I've seen them here in Texas is March 21st. I caught two males on the same night at the same gas station about 20 feet apart.

We are Borg. Prepare to be assimilated. It is futile to resist.

This ad is from Camaroon & is a real gem. Ad # is 17428 offering North American Saturnid cocoons & ova. Lists cecropia cocoons at two different prices & summer form luna cocoons in the dead of winter! Not bashful about prices either.

Cold front blew into Houston around noon Thursday. It was 77F before the front & dropped to around 40F last night. Supposed to be at or a little below freezing the next few nights with highs only around 40F. It was 81F on Wednesday & the low was 68F. Went collecting for probably the last time until late February or early March. Highlight of the night were two Ello Sphinx (Erinnyis ello). First one was a smashed female run over by a car. Second one was a near perfect male which I collected.

Reminds me of Falkor from the movie, "The Never Ending Story".

Glad to see you back, as well. Always enjoy your posts. Wish Texas were getting some of the rain you've been having. We're 10 inches below average on our year to date rainfall total & it's really made a noticeable difference in the collecting. Take care & post often.

Tell him you are Darth Vader & will force choke him if he threatens you with voodoo! "I am altering the deal. Pray I don't alter it any further."

They probably had to cut expenses somewhere to pay for all of the shade cloth. LOL

Very nice, Clark. It's amazing what can be picked up by slow motion video that the human eye misses.
