I've had that happen a number of times when I was collecting at Bald Knob, down in Southern Illinois. The bats would come in devour Sphinx moths, including Sphinx franckii, and sometimes an Ascalapha Odorata or various Catocala's, or they would devour Cerambycidae and other beetles. Occasionally, I would even find pieces of insects on the sidewalk near the cross. Jeff Prill

I remember bats grabbing Eumorpha typhon out of the air in AZ. Only the wings fell to the ground.
