The name on Nagypal's website is cited wrong, the correct name of the form is f. diva Schaeffler, 2001. It is a very dark and somber form of the male. The description is published in "Schmetterlinge der Erde, Tagfalter, Teil 12, Papilionidae VI, Ornithoptera" by Oliver Schäffler, publisher Goecke & Evers, Keltern, Germany. There is a life-size figure on plate 52 fig. 2. Please private me, if you are interrested to get a copy of the illustration. Manfred Manfred, Remember that there is a copyright on this book, and what you offer is not nice to the German publisher ... A+, Michel

Jan,
I think you can bid at any auction in the world by contacting the seller (Rieunier for this one) or the Expert (G. Lachaume) in advance in order to organize method of payment and shipping possibilities. I buy butterflies books all over the world, and it is rare not to find a way if asked in advance ...
The most difficult will be to obtain pictures if items are not in the catalogue !

Yes, and also on the first link about the female "Alexandra Birdwing" being the largest, the picture shows a male Ornithoptera priamus ssp. ? !!!

I think women collecting insects are less than 5 %, but they are a lot more in the research and illustration !
You can add to the list Claude Pierre-Baltus working on african Neptis and Zamarada, She is the wife of Jacques Pierre, the specialist of Acraea, at the head of the Lepidoptera section at the Paris Museum.

I am expecting my copy to arrive next week bought from Pemberley in UK, as you can not buy it on line from the above website ! The author has no paypal or credit card facility, and he can not provide a proper Bic/Iban for bank transfer, therefore just with the account number, the bank is charging a lot of extra fees to transfer the money ... Adam, you should convice Pisuth to correct this in order for him to sell more copies !
