Reading back through a number of posts on the old forum I couldn't help but notice a few people reporting that the group of butterflies they have the most/greatest problems setting/spreading are the Charaxes.
I've always found these to be amongst the easiest - nice robust bodies, strong veins, reasonably robust wings etc etc...I've always had WAY more problems with various Papilonidae!!!
What is it about the Charaxes that people find difficult???
Just interested to hear other peoples views...

Hi,
From what I can see in the photo it looks like it could be a true bug (order Hemiptera). No idea of the species tho'
There's another post on here by Yellow Submarine...is it the same?

Hi all, Recently got this Parnassius delphius. It's got very subdued/subtle markings. Anyone got any idea of the subspecies? The data reads Chanach Pass (3600m above sea level), Chatkal Mountains, Western Tian-Shan. Thanks in advance for any assistance! ;D Simon Attachments:

;D I had to laugh now clark, hostel is a "childrens birthday party" compared to what he speaks of. ... I once downloaded Guinea pig series but did not watch more than 5 minutes ... Hi Clarke, Yes - I've seen "Hostel". I quite liked the plotline (rich people paying to be able make their own personal snuff movies!) but I thought the film was "so-so". As Claude says, it's not quite up there with the likes of Nekromantik which, as well as some absolutely GRUESOME effects has an interesting storyline! Claude - I've got all the Guinea Pig movies on a nice DVD boxset from Germany. The first few are okay but the later ones in the series are..."yawn". The Japanese certainly make some crazy and weird movies...and there are certainly lots out there much more offensive than Guinea Pig! What was it that made you turn it off? Simon

According the Tsukuda's book (page 252), Atrophaneura priapus ssp. are dispatched in this way : - A. p. priapus : West Java - A. p. carolinae : Sumatera East - A. p. dilutus : East Java Regarding the geographical distribution, your sample is Atrophaneura priapus priapus. Looking to plate 48 (where ssp. carolinae is not featured), your sample is actually priapus : yellowish marginal band on HW larger than in dilutus, black patches inside this marginal band greater and more strongly marked than in dilutus. All the best ! Thanks for your help! ;D Do you have a reference for the book by Tsukuda you mention?

I bought 3 females from the same dealer from Peru on ebay. All 3 remained stiff as a board after 2 days in the relaxing box ,and I messed up the spreading I wonder what chemical the kill them with .Maybe they inject them with something Don't chloroform and carbon tetrachloride both cause specimens to become very stiff?
