Our dear friend Fred Gerrits passed away on 8th March 2022 after a long illness. Fred has described several lepidoptera species including a lot of new Delias taxa, like Delias hemianops. He had one of the largest Delias collection that he donated to an Australian museum. I know he has worked on several other genera too. I had the pleasure to exchange a lot of Papuan Delias specimens with him (and also some Parnassius from Nepal that he collected himself) A major loss for our community. RIP Fred !

I tried clicking "I forgot my password" and an error message kept popping up. This might be a problem caused by the change to the new URL. No. When you click on "I forgot my password", you go to Proboards website : logins.proboards.com/forgot/3252452You are not on the old or new Insectnet forum url. I just tried and it works fine

Hello My old account was "777", but I forgot my old email and password so i've started a new account. My name's Ethan. I started casually collecting some beetles when I was 16, 4 years later I am now collecting almost any species of animal I can find. My passion for nature has inspired me so now I have recently become a taxidermist. I haven't been collecting insects as much for a while because a lot of my bugs had been destroyed by ants that came into my house one day. Not even dried bugs are spared by ants! I've gotten some Cornell drawers to protect my collection now and I feel motivated to collect insects again. Welcome back. You can retrieve your 777 account easily by clicking on "I forgot my password". If you have also forgotten your email, I can send it to you by PM on this new account.

Interesting. Is it for "live" animals only ? Or also "dead" insects ?

A Caligo sp. in the Belizon forest. Caligo species fly at sunset only, a rather unusual behaviour for lepidoptera.

While putting a net on a high branch to try to capture a Memphis, I dropped this large mantis to the ground. J.A. Cerda told me it is a hard to see species as it may always stay high in trees.

One Theritas sp., the most common Lycaenidae on the Kaw mountain. This picture was taken at the entrance of the Amazon Nature Lodge area. I missed a female Morpho rhetenor that day...

I had the pleasure to spend 2 weeks in French Guiana in October 2021 with my friend Jean-Marc ( lepidofrance). I have only few pictures as I spent most of my time collecting. It was my first time in FG and I found it a very nice Amazonian area with some great entomological lodges in several places. A big thank you to Jean-Marc for organizing and helping me during the trip. Let's start with this wonderful mettalic longhorn, Callichroma auricomum. It is not a rare species but I saw them only once, near a dead balata tree that their larvae eat. Their bronze and green reflects are wonderful. Montagne de Kaw, FG, Oct 2021. In this spot, you could admire several splendid "Coq de roche" birds. One of the most famous Amazonian birds. I saw about 15 of them in this spot (not my picture)

Spring has started in Brittany too. Around 15°C today, and I saw about 15 Aglais io, 1 Gonepteryx rhamni and 1 Pararge aegeria (all are overwintering species) while walking my dog. Anthocharis cardamines should soon be in town !

Yes,CITES is needed for things coming from outside de EU,I have 1 parcel from Rusia waiting in a spanish airport from the middle of february, I have said them that there aren't protected species but they are very slow procesing this things. What do you mean by "CITES is needed + they aren't protected" You mean your customs are asking CITES permits for non CITES species now ?

Not a political question though politics may be a cause… I occasionally look at the Ornithoptera that a dealer in Russia sells. I don’t buy any of his products because I don’t wanna get in trouble bringing them into the country. In addition there have been posts here about his products having been altered (regular priamus turned into uvillianus). Where most Ornithoptera on eBay were from Russian Federation, there are none now listed that I see (Alex Bic excluded). Is this from an economic conflict stemming from the armed conflict? Please no replies that are political in nature or opinions about the conflict. That does not belong here. Thanks for the speculation in advance. Tyson I confirm that eBay (and Paypal) have "frozen" all Russian accounts. (due to the war in Ukraine). Several Russian sellers have contacted me for this issue : they have no more access to their ebay account and can't list any new item. And if you click on any Russian seller item, you will see a message "The seller is away until Dec 31, 2030" : www.ebay.com/itm/154890065522
