Maybe its the danger zone for me but collecting hymenoptera is one of my favorite things to do. These Clypeadon are one of my local favorites. Thanks Clark will try your method the next time I go out to find Pepsis Attachments:

Great idea Clark! Defiently don't want a female stinging you. Imagine it would be painful, plus I'm allergic.

Nice catch. Catching Pepsis is fun and scary when you find a big female.

Wyliea mydas. Nice specimens. The Gila Wilderness is great have visited there a couple times. Last year when I went to visit my favorite campground had been washed away by the Gila River. Really like flies if you ever want to trade? Ian Attachments:

Hey my wife use to live in Nola spent months in your area 9th Ward. We seem to collect the same sort of things, have been collecting alot lately, moved to a great area. Live around Aguanga Ca there are many wonderful species here. Interested in trading have samples of almost everything you listed. Have collected some interesting robber flies, pepsis, pompilids, mutillids. Trying to find a decent population of Dasymutilla magnifica around my area. Found a hotspot today for robbers :0 a buddy of mine sent me some excellent intel. Thank you! Really need some books on diptera, hymenoptera, roaches, mantids if you have any you'd like to trade? Otherwise I'm always up for trading insects or minerals. Pm me. Ian Attachments:

Collecting in Aguanga is dangerous we always keep our eyes open for snakes. Looking in wood piles scares me. The red diamonds are more passive then other rattler species. Built a trail system on my property to avoid snakes while chasing prize specimens like the Dasymutilla aureola male we found today. People please don't attempt to kiss rattlers! I have years of experience handling herps. What a great invention the insect net

My pocket net comes apart in 5 sections. Fits easily in my "man" purse. Another reason its nice is you can extend or shorten your handle. Even though the net collapses only do this while flying, missed a couple nice specimens along the way trying to get my net situated. Not matter what you do a person with a net running around at all hours is surefire for drawing attention. Hope you make some nice finds!
