Yes i'll have to try that. This year i had one force it's way out of the net just through sheer strength,and another that was clinging to a plant so tightly the net bounced along its back. It just done a vertical takeoff and flew away. I did catch most i saw though,several which are blue/black in colour,though there was one type with white socks on its legs that i could not get near enough to catch,and just saw them fly by.
Maybe its the danger zone for me but collecting hymenoptera is one of my favorite things to do. These Clypeadon are one of my local favorites. Thanks Clark will try your method the next time I go out to find Pepsis
