Let me know if you rear some this next season. I would be interested in some ova if you have any.

It's dry in my neck of the woods. But then again, I live where the Great Basin meets the Sierra Nevada range. Usually, there are some thunderstorms popping up about this time here, but not this year.

Same here. Me and Tom tapped multiple times during a May-June in drought conditions in TN. We found that during drought conditions, they like to be lower in trees, away from the heat. They can be common in tree hollows and cavities.

John, I can imagine it's the same here with S. nokomis and many other species of Speyeria.

JTaylor, you might have them there, but they are uncommon in most places in their range. I bet you can find them there with a lot of patience, and careful searching.

I made the mistake that I put that I was going to find C. sappho here in the West where it doesn't occur. Lol I meant looking for Catocalas.

You will get em, Mr. Hyatt! I am going to keep my eyes open for them here in Nevada, and on my trip to AZ in a couple of weeks. Sadly, seems like the issues I've been having with my right ankle is getting worse, so I go out when I'm not in major pain.

Do you have Hickory or mixed Hickory woodland around your area?

Here is my cheapo light set up... MV and blacklight combo just blacklight and this is just made up of a car battery, a power converter, and a metal paint/drawing easel, and if available, rocks to hold the sheet and the easel down.

Tom is right about this. I went collecting with him a couple of times, and missed one the was sitting high on a hickory.

He is not one here anymore, so you don't need to keep it going.

I use a metal art easel to hold my lights up. I have a very simple set up. I have ran a self ballasted MV light off a car battery for a couple of hours, and a black light off the same battery for more. I figure a camera tripod or a work lamp stand would work. Is this to take to AZ ?

My light fixture is very simple. I have one of the bioquip Ac/DC blacklights. I bought a cheap car battery from Wallyworld(WalMart), and a converter. I have plugged my self ballasted MV light off it as well, and is good for short excursions.
