I would like to share a very important symptom difference between Covid-19 and colds/flu. Most symptoms are almost identical, except that if you have a runny nose it is NOT Covid-19, unless you are very unlucky and you have a cold/flu at the same time. People suffering from Covid-19 do not have a runny nose, but other symptoms are very similar to colds and flu.
Please ensure you wash your hands thoroughly for at least 20 seconds with soap or use alcohol sterilising gel whenever you return home or while out and about, and try not to touch your face until after washing your hands.
If you think you may have Covid-19 do not go to see the doctor or go to a hospital. Contact your country's health service online or by phone from home and they will advise you what to do.
Adam.

Hi Adam,
Thanks - I hadn't heard this detail presented in all the contradictory noise we're getting in the U.S. Depending on the source, it's either a hoax or the End Times here. People are hoarding toilet paper and hand sanitizer and clearing the grocery shelves. They closed our museum today for 2 weeks, and I'm working from home for a while - inconvenient, but doable thanks to a 20-drawer backlog of mixed Coleoptera needing sorted and ID'd.
There's a guy on the news right now saying "if you panic, you secrete steroids into your blood stream, thereby taxing your immune system and making you more susceptible"?? Could be true - could be extrapolation of a minor effect. But panic seems more in vogue here... actually had a neighbor tell me this morning that we don't have any test kits in the U.S. because we gave ours all away to Iran to help them first - purely a theory right off of Facebook...
The new craze of "social distancing" is a welcome societal change for me - fewer fools to abide. And if someone starts to bother me, a good, hearty fake sneeze will back them off!!
Stay healthy, everyone! Bandrow

It seems that virus is effecting human’s brain function in those who are not infected.

Miguel, just go to McDonalds and ask for extra napkins.......
I'm heading to a fossil and crystal dig on Monday. Good things that fuel prices are down and it won't be crowded at the mine.

Clarification:
It does seem that sometimes a runny nose can occur in Covid-19 patients, but that could be due to other infections at the same time too.
If anyone has symptoms, runny nose or not, the best course of action is to self-isolate until recovery unless you need medical treatment, in which case do not go to the hospital, contact the medical services from your home and they will assist you.

That is awesome! Heart disease and auto accidents kill even more as well. I'll get it or not....If it does lower the population then ok. My people (Aboriginal Americans) tend to think - And you people told us the smallpox virus is small. Good post Jan. I am going to benefit from it though. I'm driving tomorrow to dig crystals and fuel prices are low as well as the number of people at the mine will be less so more for me to find as I dig......

Greetings,
I noticed the same irony as Jan - the U.S. has had over 22,000 flu deaths this season alone, with kids getting hit hard, but there was no toilet paper hoarding, no hand sanitizer crazes, no empty shelves at the grocery stores. I will say it again - I fear stupid people doing stupid sh*t more than I fear this virus...
Cheers! Bandrow

The difference is a death rate higher than the flu, and the fact that NOBODY has been immunized against COVID.

Can't wait until Covid-19 sees another virus thinks it's cute and they decide to swap genetic material. The next mutation is coming.

Yes - we have a flu vaccine; yes - Covid-19 has a higher fatality rate... but my point remains - over 20,000 people died and we still consider it "just the flu".

Even though I suffer from emphysema, and would probably be in a bad way, I do see a lot of potential amusement in the current situation. Normally, where I live in my city of 7000 people, it's quiet, except it's a tourist town, and we are about to be overrun with tourists, all from the big cities. It's feeling a bit closed in right now. I don't get the toilet paper thing, it's inexplicable, and one might draw a number of scenarios of what people expect to do with 3 months worth of Charmin. Air travel, the vector, this situation is going to fundamentally change things, and hopefully for the better, people are going to be passing thru some scfi decontamination tunnel, at least international travel doesn't require the quarantine that people's pets have to...yet. I'm sure of a lot of doomsday preppers are feeling pretty good right now. Ammunition and soap, that's the ticket. The numbers don't explain the panic do they? It's fear of the unknown, where I live, at least several times a year, people walk off cliffs taking selfies, and fall into the ocean, and our store shelves are empty of hand sanitizer, but there are plenty of life jackets. I feel for the ones at risk, from something that we'll never know the true source, and the use of this situation by person's with an agenda, or looking for profit is reprehensible, and that's something there is no shortage of.

Many countries have already either closed their borders entirely or require arrivals to spend 14 days in quarantine on arrival.
