Hello all. I have recently become more enthralled with insects as a result of having been a single mother of a young son. I regularly took my son outside where we would collect bugs to study and hold. I wanted to be sure that my son becomes a man who doesn't scream and run when he sees an insect. It's been a few years since our early experiences, and we are continuing to learn. Most recently, we have been focusing on lepidoptera. My husband has encouraged us to try our hands at breeding a few different Saturniids. I am learning how to pin insects as well. We currently have pupae of Luna, Atlas, Cecropia, Imperialis and Regalis. We have Atticus Selene eggs and Cecropia eggs and two Luna moths. My son will be teaching his kindergarten class about Saturniids and metamorphosis. I am working on finishing an enclosure that is 30" wide/deep and 63" tall. I guess that's all! I love meeting people and soaking up their knowledge!

Welcome Joachim and toosa.
Joachim, I am sure you will find interesting topics to read here about butterflies and mimicry, please feel free to contribute in the relevant sections. I am sure we will look forward to hearing from you.
toosa, You remind me a lot of my mother who used to take me out catching grasshoppers and other insects to put in glass bottles and take home to look after when I was a very young boy. It is a great idea to encourage children to learn about nature, and now I am passing on my experience to my own 7 year old son too. Please do ask questions about anything you want to know more about, and also perhaps tell us more about your experiences breeding Saturniids.
Adam.

You are a new member here, please tell us more about you and your insect passion. Hi Everybody, my main passion is Lepidoptera, mantids, butterflies, I live in the UK but also live some of the time in France. So I am lucky and have the best of both worlds, catching in the wild is always an interesting exercise especially as you never now what you will find. If anybody wants to exchange any species I would always be interested. I am in the process of building a botanical garden in France for all of my species hopefully they will live and let live, or I will have to get some more space. Any comments and suggestions greatly received. My email is susiestailoring@btinternet.com
