Hi, my name is Philippe Jacquot from France. like many of you, I'm interested in insects since childhood but not only.
I am passionate about nature in general, I like to put a name on the animals, plants and mushrooms that I meet. At the age of 20, I started a collection of aquatic insects and then beetles for which I specialized in longhorned beetles. Today, at the dawn of my 50th birthday, I am proud to have been able to identify and name new species from Southeast Asia and I hope to continue in this direction as long as there are new species to discover!

Hello! I am a beekeeper and have been for the last 6 years. I have always liked insects but it's only more recently that I've spent a lot more time with them. We (Our BKA) go and talk at events to the public about honeybees and as people ask about bumblebees too so I've read a bit more about some of them. I'd like to be able to display the dead bees I've collected nicely and I think that's why I've signed up for this forum.

Hi, first, without my glasses, I have read "barkeeper" and was wondering what you have to do with bugs. Ha. Now I see you are familiar with bees. Where are you located?
best wishes Joachim

Hello one and all - glad be among you. I live in Paris France, but spend about a third of my time in the countryside in Brittany. I am a bee keeper and keen amateur entomologist. The property where I keep my bees is on the edge of a lake about 2km long by half a Km wide. I am surrounded by beautiful nature, I have seen otters there in the past, fresh water birds are abundant and of course the lakeside is absolutely humming with insect life. A nature watcher's paradise. Here in France we have some 85 odd species of odonates and an amazing fifty or so live in my region (22) I am intending to catalogue as many as I can and have been practicing catching and releasing them with success recently. I am thinking of beginning to form a solid collection of local insects. At present our bee population is threatened by the arrival of Asian Hornets (about eight years ago) and the Varroa mite (about 18 years ago) I have been looking closely at the behaviour of the Asian hornet recently. There is so much of interest to investigate I hardly know where to begin. I have already gleaned much information from visiting the forum as a guest and thank you for having me on board as a member. Best wishes - Peter Caine

Hello, my name is Veronica and I find bugs fascinating. I live in North Carolina with my family. My boyfriend, now husband was the one who introduced me to lepidoptera. I have never given it much thought before. Growing up, we just thought of moths as a nuisance. I have a totally new outlook on moths and butterflies now. I find them to be beautiful and mysterious. I enjoy pinning pinning bugs, it is very relaxing. I also love lepidoptera because there is always something new to learn!
