Worldwide Butterflies(UK) used to offer few years ago Vanessa gonerilla and I bred 3 Generations per year with any Urticae you could find on the fields in Germany. It is very easy to get them laying eggs, usually it took up to 3 weeks till they startet mating but they came from alone to the sugar water and I put potted Urticae in the Cage and all in the full sun but you Need to take care that a part of the Cage is in the shadow. Now I have the 4th Generation of Nepalese Aglais kaschmierensis . Robert

the size of the caterpillars that I collected in the wild have been very different, some have been 1,5 cm and the others just comming out of the eggs, thats why I have so few pupae now ready. But as you say ,if I have more pupaes, I will start seeing the difference better.

I plan to try a Hand pairing but guess from the size of my 4 pupae that they are all same sex(probably males).... I still have few more caterpillars in different sizes, so that there will be probably in 3-4 weeks the last pupaes ready.

the green caterpillar of Papilio manlius that can be found together with the caterpillars of Papilio demodocus on Mauritius nowerdays Papilio manlius seems to be quiete rar on the Island. ............ few weeks later I can see that I was lucky that non on the found caterpillars whas Papilio demodocus, probably because the flight season of them has just begun and most Papilio demodocus have still been in the pupae

he send me Pictures of cocoons of a rar Argema species(he gave me reference Name of a French dealer who exists but I dont care about any references) and after checking the cocoon descriptions in the lit. I have seen that they are only Argema mimosae and not other rar Argema species. He agreed to send them with out payment in advance, but after a while he had a excuse why his wife did not send them and now he is trying to offer me Epiphora cocoons but I will not buy anything. Hi Bob I must have missed you this time in Nerja, have been at a nice small coffee in the town and many english and dutch guests have been there and enjoying the sun .Prices there have been quiete low compared with other places near Malaga. Am planning to move maybe in one year to Andalusia (probably to Estepona)that was the reason why I spend a week around Malaga. The climate down there will be good to breed Tropical butterflies :-)
