Went tree tapping and the only thing i caught were ticks. Bait traps are still doing poorly, only 2 ultronia in the past 2 nights. Lots of Stenelytrana emarginata longhorns though.

Forgot about wanting to bait trees. Going to do that tonight and somewhere different for once. Also should be a good way to test out my 3 different bait mixes.

Didn't have much luck with baiting trees, just ultronia & grynea but i did find 20+ ilia on leaves of small trees/shrubs. Before last night i hadn't seen one in over 2 weeks. Also got my first piatrix of the season in one of my traps.

Odd that even in my last two years of a "boom year" for Cats, I have yet to catch piatrix in the northeast. Odd given the hosts are all over the place.

I get tons here. One of my traps is surrounded by 30-40 Black Walnuts.

I think I'm going in the woods tomorrow to try my luck. At the very least I can feed the ticks

The locality is everything because most random woods will have no Catocala in them. You need the right conditions. It was barely hot enough yesterday and most of them were high up on the trunks.

The woods behind my house is usually loaded with catocala. You are right about the temperature. They are staying up high. Not enough consecutive hot days to drive them down
