Hi guys I'd like some help for collecting BroodX 17-year cicada for cicada parasite research and would like to offer a 1 dollar reward for 20 square inch of specimens (it would be 50 bucks for a box with 10 inches length, and any box size would be accepted ). If you live around the 17-year cicada teeming area and are having a hard time dealing with the dead cicada bodies and would like to accept the offer please let me know. You can reach out to me via my email mgn.eisenhardt@gmail.com.

I already have my brood X, and can likely get more from friends in Kentucky. However, your request isn't very clear.
1. Are these shipping to USA? If not, an export license is required, who pays for that? 2. Who pays shipping? 3. I don't understand your math. $1 for 20 sq. in, so 10 in x 2 in. is $1. But you say a 10 in box is paid $50. Which is it? 4. Packaging requirements?

I too agree with this questionable request. I noticed it popped up late last night and immediately questioned whether it was some form of spam.
So as not to be too proactive (and/or judgmental) in my thoughts I chose to leave it alone.
Hopefully, the person who posted it will clarify their thoughts for us further; so this all makes more sense...

Um... I think there is nothing with the math... 1buck for 20inch^3 and a box with 10 inch length would have a volume of 1000inch^3 which would be exactly 50bucks. Hi exoticimports if you can still get the dead cicada broodX bodies plz contact me via email, thank you! Packaging requirements are not that strict, and any packaging method would be accepted as long as the large portion of the specimens are intact for examine of parasite influence. I dunno what post should be categorized as spam but I only posted 2 posts in this forum and I've typed them word by word.

I can cover the shipping cost and the specimens are shipping to CA. I am a bio major student of University of California.

Um... I think there is nothing with the math... 1buck for 20inch^3 and a box with 10 inch length would have a volume of 1000inch^3 which would be exactly 50bucks. Being explicit and accurate is important in research. God knows I've been corrected enough times here, so I feel qualified to say this: From original post: "20 square inch of specimens (it would be 50 bucks for a box with 10 inches length, and any box size would be accepted" 20 sq.in. is two dimensional. Factually, one cannot have sq.in. of any specimens. 20inch^3 is volume. A box with 10" length has no volume, nor does it even have area. A box size as later clarified as 1000inch^3 volume does. In that it wasn't made clear what the need or offer was, I collected only enough specimens to satisfy some future entomologists who need a single Brood X specimen for study. There may still be some live cicadas in PA, if you can find someone there. Chuck

Oh.. sorry about the math. It should be cube instead of square. Thank you for your correction. I am a bio student; I am really not good at math, geometry and stuff...

No offense Max, but more than likely you will need to be proficient at math, particularly statistics. Many bio jobs are very heavy in math. Even field research has advanced to quadrants, counts, and statistics. Chuck

Everything is math. I didn't like it in school, but it sure came in handy as a construction contractor.
