I surmised that as well. You can take a stab at the subject- use the ubiquitous search engine and you'll find a 34 million year old Lithospsyhce antiqua. I hope I spelled that correctly, I'm not familiar with the species.

Prior to my move to Aurora, Ohio, I acquired a copy of the publication. I will find it today and read it.
I have been to the Florissant Fossil Quarry. There are several places where you can pay $10 or $15 dollars to dig in the fossil bed on private property. I have spent several hours and found pieces of plants. Nothing more.
I purchased a couple of fossil specimens from one of the dig sites.
Six or seven years ago, the Lepidopterists Society held their annual meeting at the Nature Place which is near the Florissant Fossil Quarry. I looked for fossils in several of the creek beds and found a piece of a leaf.

Wow! These beetles are cool, I wonder how much they would fetch on eBay.

Both interesting articles, prehistoric life is fascinating, and the immense amount of variables over the millions of years is fascinating as well, humans have been the recipient of incredible random chance to even be here to contemplate the questions.
