Somebody on this list lives close by. Or, traveled from some distance to collect them. I returned to Fairport Harbor after church today. I went down to the parking lot of the Beach Access area. All the Polyphemus cocoons are gone. Every last one. About how many was that? At least 10+. This is not an especially large area. There are a lot of Aspen trees and actually a couple of White Birch Trees. I was just curious. I have often wondered if any of those who read my post's acutally get out and check out the things and places I visit and write about.

This is more than likely my last cocoon report for the year. I traveled to Killdeer Plains WA. As I drove through Upper Sandusky, Ohio. I stopped at a GET-GO for gas. As I exited the GET-GO, there was a "Clump" (Is "Clump" a real word??) of small Silver Maple trees. I collected two (2) Hyalophora cecropia cocoons from the "clump".
While in Upper Sandusky I stopped at the "Village Family Restaraunt" for a quick breakfast. Now I must admit, it was better than I expected. As I departed Upper Sandusky I drove through farm lands. I came to a "T" in the road and there in a small group Sassafras trees (Sassafras albidum). I saw a couple of Callosamia promethea cocoon. The were seven (7). Two were from the previous year. It is not often that I find old or previous year Callosamia promethea cocoons.
It was the first day with a temperature above 60°F in 2021!
