I have a greater interest in Light Bulbs that most of you. I make a living from them, of sorts. The end of the incandesent light bulb is near, it will be "Out-Lawed". The link below is to a congressman with some sense. www.lewrockwell.com/blog/lewrw/archives/75548.htmlAs for Mercury Vapor, they will be available for Scientific purposes. Someone asked the question on these board: "Are Metal Halide comparable to Mercury Vapor?". The answer is yes and no. Yes because they produce UV blue light, almost an equal amount. No, the UV light does not travel or penetrate as far as Mercury Vapor. Mercury Vapor is susposedly a major contributor to light polution. I think that Mr. Edison's invention does not polute our enviorment as CFL contains Mercury. But who are we to judge, Congress knows best. What separates Lawyers and Congressmen? Congressmen are lawyers who could not catch ambulances......

I agree with you Jeff. We the people need to fight for what is fair and right here in the US. Stop that law that gets rid of the old bulbs!! There needs to be uproar over the hole US over this!! I found out other countries are having a hard time tying to figure out how to recycle those new bulbs. Using these bulbs is not good for our county or any other county. Congress and gov. are messing up big time!! I bought a bunch of extra light bulbs, the old kind that will be out lawed, for my lamp that I do my painting and insect spreading by because they have better light.

I think a German company is selling "light emitting heat elements" aka incandescent light bulbs which are outside of the light bulb rules there because they are classified as another kind of instrument. I may have read that here. If true - genious!
