Hello, not so different:
I have myna D. genutia but many of them are daark grey
Is this a variation?

I checked my specimens of D.genutia and they are all rather orange than orange/greyish. Maybe they are older specimens or they were treated with some chemicals which effected the coloration. It could be some variation but D.genutia is a very common species and I don’t recall to remember seeing one like yours.

I suspect that these were discoloured after death, possibly by heat or exposure to strong sunlight when drying them. Such problems with local collectors are certainly not "something completely different", just a case of "would be pushing up the daisies if they hadn't been put in envelopes" (rather than 'nailed to the perch - lovely plumage squire!')
