Coenonympha tulia was the original species with a good dozen sub-species.
Coenonympha nipisiquit, depending of what you think or believe, may be a good species. Every time I go out west, I come back with a dozen or more specimens from different locations of Coenonympha tulia. I have many specimens with determination labels: Coenonympha tulips NC Wyoming. (The NC = North Central.)
I have this little comment that I use: "Mother Nature/God never read the field guides". They like messing with our feeble minds.
