I m interest in all families of butterflyes, the problem is that i need only one pair or two from each specie, i also buy variations and a few aberrations. I already try to get locals to catch species for me, and stil send nets, they catch the butterflyes but they don t send them, some countries is impossibel to get material from them. Countries like Angola and others

Buying specimens is a temptation, I used to buy a lot when I was first starting out. Nowadays, it's insects I collect, or raise, or from livestock. I still have a few specimens I purchase, beetles mostly, and there is a different methodology for a perfect beetle.
One a possibly separate note. I am jealous of people who still have items from their teens, or before. I have made too many idiotic life decisions to have much of anything left from the distant past. However, I am trying to make up for past errors in judgment. It's expensive.
I'm not even sure what A2 is, even with a specimen that has just emerged from a cocoon, dried it's wings, if you're not careful, you've got nothing...I've had more than one moth get away from me, and the tailed ones are especially susceptible, my last actias isis male- perfect before I tried to dispatch him, without a tail, he was not much to get excited about.

For me personally I would rather have an A2 specimen of a rare species than none at all, money is a consideration for most of us so if it means £100 for A2 or £500 for A1 therefore out of most people's price range then A2 it is. This is especially prevalent at insect fayres where one can pick up remarkable bargains if you are more concerned with data than condition.

Also, if you can repair a specimen ( not a Trpoides with a part of a Morpho as I saw in a Video ) it my look better. I also think a A2 specimen with a bird´s hack in the eye is also quite impressive. Some speciems may look better if you mount them from the underside. I just have a Cethosia and the underside is impressive. So it A2++++

You all have the right thought. If I caught it myself and it was a bug I wanted any condition worked because it was the story of catching that specimen. we all have experiences like 58 chevy. Coming from the big city I ddn"t see many bugs. When I began purchasing specimens especially from The Tropics I expected perfection. never really saw any advertisement for A- or B. When I was in The Tropics and ran across " professional collectors" they wouldn"t keep imperfects.
Now: I ( use to ) love a lot pf bugs from traps. spent a lot of time determining ( or ) unknowns. most of those were of mixed quality and still loved them.
