I have just received the following e-mail from Blanca Huertas at the NHM, London: Dear colleagues, It is with great sadness that we inform you that our colleague Campbell Smith, former member of the former Entomology Department (Lepidoptera) retired in 2008, passed away last month. Please see attached a short bio prepared for the Insects' Division Newsletter. I would be grateful if you please forward this email to other colleagues interested. I first heard this sad news a couple of weeks ago but was waiting for the official announcement. I got to know Campbell quite well whilst I was researching the Colias types at the museum about 18 years ago. He was always very welcoming and we shared quite a few long chats at the time.

I got to know Campbell quite well whilst I was researching the Colias types at the museum about 18 years ago. He was always very welcoming and we shared quite a few long chats at the time. Campbell was very helpful to me when I spent time studying specimens in the NHM collection (then at Wandsworth) over a couple of months in 2006. He was indeed very welcoming, and even a few months ago communicated with me on my Pazala research. Adam.
