Hi,I am looking for a more continuous supply of food for my praying mantises. I want to try and breed feeder crickets, I have kept breeder crickets for years and not had any success in getting the eggs to hatch. I am pretty sure it is because I don't give them enough heat. Can someone please point me in the right direction on getting feeder crickets to breed? Like what are the steps and necessary things they need?

I seemingly have the opposite problem, I have trouble with females laying eggs too quickly in my tarantula's habitat before they are eaten. Week later a cloud of little crickets in the water dish.
All you need is dirt and decent temps (70's).

ok so what is your setup like? I was planning on putting the crickets in a large plastic critter cage and putting egg cartons inside for cover. Then i am not sure what to do with the material for eggs, I was maybe going to put a container in the cage with dirt or something like that. What do you do? Of course the dirt needs to stay moist so i will spray it with water, how would I know if eggs are in it though? and once there are eggs is it best to remove the small container with eggs and put it into a different cage? also how much water do crickets need? I always have problems with this, i either give them too much or too little. What is the best way to give crickets the right amount of water? I don't like putting a shallow dish with water because i am afraid they will drown.
