What are these smaller entomological fairs like. Do dealers other than the U.K attend.? There is a very noticeable lack of dealers from aboard at the AES! and in many instances with a couple of exceptions the quality and rarity of the specimens was far less than the other European fairs.

You will find this now Peter, at Newark in December there was sod all in the way of deadstock but loads and loads of creepy crawly stalls. Kempton was better this year for deadstock but not great, in the UK at least the collection of actual specimens and those who supply them is dying out I'm afraid and has become unethical and unfashionable with the whims of the age we live in, it won't stop me though, I'm in this for life.

It's good to see Kettering back. It (and its predecessor at Leicester) was always by far he best of the UK shows as people from south of London won't go to Newark and people from the north won't go to Kempton Park. I have reservations about the timing in June as I think many people would rather be out in the field than go to a show - hopefully it will move back to its old timing in April if it's a success. At least June should be good for livestock! I'll have a couple of tables so I hope to see many of the UK members there.
You'll find very few foreign dealers at any of the UK shows, simply because people in this country aren't prepared to spend big money on bugs; and the few that do will go to Juvisy and Frankfurt. There were quite a few European dealers that came to one of the AES shows a few years ago and none of them made any money so I don't think we'll see them again. The amount of rare material at these shows will become less and less as people won't buy it. I probably have more rare set material than most people and I pretty much know in advance who will buy what. It's always the same people and I can deal with them without going to the shows.

I'm confused...the title of the thread says the show is on June 14th but the actual advert says its on June 22nd... I assume its actually the 22nd (as I guess Paul knows when the show is seeing he's the organiser!) but can anyone confirm? Thanks in advance, Simon PS - Clark - IF it is the 22nd could you change the thread title? People may not be able to attend on 14th but may be free on 22nd...

Clark,
Just had an email from Paul Holt and the Kettering Fair takes place on 22nd June 2014 and not 14th as given in the title of this thread.
