It's been a long time coming. I had to pay for some custom work to get this done. You will notice down in the lower left of a Classified ad: 'Posting IP', and a link to a geo-location map that shows from where the ad was posted. Tip: compare that geo-location map with the declared 'Location' entered for the ad. I'm just sayin.... This is not retroactive for previous ads, but it is effective for new ads posted from now. I hope it works. Sometimes you may get no specified country in the link. This will probably be caused by the poster using an anonymous or 'cloaked' IP address. This is a red flag. It means the poster may be trying to hide their true identity and/or location. Proceed with caution.

It works very well. It might astonish many of you to find out that Mary Ann from Dayton Ohio uses a server in Yaoundé, Cameroon to route her email. It certainly caught me by surprise - given her obvious taxonomic expertize. Shuey Attachments:

She/he didn't even bother to change her name from the various ads she posted yesterday, she just relocated from Cameroon to the States; of course the IP addresses are the same.
The various ads also seem to be copied from other people's ads - she's trying to sell pupae from the Philippines, Parnassius and Brassolidae among other things!

Ad #14430 is pure spam, nothing to do with insects, never mind Lepidoptera livestock. Also they claim to be in Australia but their IP is 'NG', which I assume is Nigeria. dodgeeeeeeeeeeeee!
Adam.

Clark, is it the full IP address that is displayed or just a part of it to know the average location ?
Thanks

4 number blocks is the full IPv4 address? This doesn't point to your house but to the spot from where your connection gets handled. In my case this often was Hamburg although this is a few hundred kilometres away.

You see, it's working already. You members can do some sleuthing on your own. The IP address, remember, points to the nearest location from where the ad was posted. That does not necessarily mean the exact location of where the poster is, just the nearest internet connection, which is good enough.
I will get around to deleting those recent scam ads, when I catch up feeding my caterpillars. Thanks everybody for helping me out.
