Here in Tennesee the collecting has been somewhat slow and strange at night, compared to the last several years. I have collected some nice Prominent species, some Sphingidae, Saturnidae, and a few Arctiidae. Also Lucanus elaphus has started to fly. One thing that is rather strange though is the total absence of Catocala moths. As of yet I have not seen a single Catocala of any species. Last year I was collecting these moths in mid May! I remember seeing at least eight different species by the first of June. I have to wonder what is going on, and why a banner year previously isn't producing any moths this year. I know from many years of collecting that no two seasons are alike, but this is very odd to say the least. Tom
