Dos any one bottle hunt at old dumps?

So just got into bottle hunting after seeing show about local bottle hunter in Santa Cruz County CA on TV. It is very hard to get started in this hobby because not many folks want to share their secret places. I did how ever get a few place locations from folks at flee markets. Of cores theses places are mostly full of broken bottles not worth any thing. But on my first hunt I got lucky and found two Pepsodent Antiseptic Bottles of different sizes still with the black lids on and no chips in the glass. I found out the small one is $12 and the big one is Worth $22 . They are for sale if any one is interested. They are from late 30s to early 40s . Got permishon to dig around old home foundation. Found lots of old broken tile, shingles and old broken clay stove so far. Tile is for sale if any one dos mosaic art out there.

No bottle hunters out there? Some bottles can be up in the thousands of dollars if rare. They are worth hunting for. Just found out about the old stagecoach road and its trash dumps .

I did a bit when scuba diving for fossils. Never found any good bottles though.........

As a kid in the sixties used to play on a dump on the Medway estuary UK.
Used to find loads of old bottles never kept them though,just smashed them.
One thing i did come away from there with though was a dose of Hepatitis

I found a cool bunch on a salt flat in Texas. Old snuff bottles and pop bottles, from the 1930's. Sometimes I find them in the bush here in Canada, brown Orange Crush bottles or similar. I'm always looking through junk.

When I was diving last year for Sharks teeth I found a few of the old pull tabs. I was pretty interested in them since they mostly stopped making them long ago.

No bottles, but I do collect aluminum cans for extra money. It gives me a lot of exercise on my days off from work. I kind of think that I pay myself to exercise, since I can walk up to 20 miles per day, nowadays. My last bunch of cans came to 350 dollars US, mainly because they were crushed down flat, which eliminates empty space and makes the bags heavier. A thirty gallon trash bag can weigh up to 25 lbs.

I met a guy who was getting good bottles by digging down into the channel of the river that flows through town. He'd wait until a dry year and dig down about 8 feet. Risky though.

So far I have only found bottles at an old dump from the 1920s and later. I am currently researching the old stage coach routs, they were active from 1850 to 1890, that went through my county. Some of them have old dumps on them. Also will be checking out old mills and army camps as well. Old forgotten town sites also may have old dumps.

When I went to boarding school on the 70`s Charters Towers north Qld , on weekends I would scoot outside school boundaries and wander about the scrub and noticed the old gold miners sometimes dumped their bottles in old creeks beds , maybe hoping the wet season rains would wash them away , many were covered in silt , I walked along old creek beds and when I saw broken glass about , dug into the banks and found some neat old bottles , still have them in boxes of accumulated stuff around here somewhere.

This is an old Cantrell & Cochrane Aerated Waters bottle from 1869. Cantrell & Cochrane bottled water in Dublin, Ireland. This bottle has a round bottom. The bottle could not be stood up. The bottle laid on its side and kept the cork wet. If stood up, the cork would dry out and the water would lose it fizz.

I found this bottle in 1988. my son lived on South Bass Island in the western end of Lake Erie. The Harbor of Put In Bay was being dredged. The dredging was dumped along the waters edge. We found several of these.

How did these bottle from Dublin, Ireland end up in the bottom of Put In Bay, South Base Island, Ohio?

I collect Beer & Soda Bottles with contents. (Full Bottles). I have beer bottles from 1890 from around the world. I do not search for them I just find them by chance. I have about 500 beer bottles and a 1000 Soda Pop bottles. I have been collecting bottle for 40 year.

I have a friend in Paducah, Kentucky that collects Bricks. And another friend in Virginia that collects Match Books.

I have another friend who collects womens panties! That is a very expensive hobby.

There's a massive old bottle dump where i live. I used to collect them from there 20 years ago. The first dig of the spade will open up bottles for you. even the old pot ones are buried there.
