You both lose. Based on the section you placed this under I assume you think this to be either a stick-insect or a mantis. It is in fact neither. Rather it is a waterscorpion (Order: Hemiptera; Family: Nepidae; probably Genus: Ranatra). They cannot sting as their name may mislead you to believe; rather they are so named due to their long slender tail-like breathing tube and "claws" (raptorial forelegs).
