I am rearing Speyeria and will be traveling for two weeks. Is there any way to delay the hatching and/or if chrysalis is put in total darkness what will happen? Will adults hatch in darkness and if so will they stay for two weeks?

Definitely refridgerate them! I chilled ova from Saturnia walterorum 6 weeks to wait for foodplant...had about 40% mortality, but got over half of those that hatched to eventually spin coccoons! Not sure what the effects would be with butterfly pupae... obe
