sorry John, it is just a Bunaea .... not Gonimbrasia ellisoni (it is a green species of a different genus) Thierry

Thierry, thanks for correction. The only way to build a proper collection, is to have experts around too verify proper ID. Do you have the real gonimbrasia ellisoni in your collection? John

it is one the very few i don't have in collection .... Despite it seems no so uncommon and that seems to fly even in disturbed area. Never had the opputinity and as far as I know no recent catch. I can't explain ! Thierry

I don't know the name that must be applied despite it exists yet. There is a begin of answer posted on the WLSS site. What is sure is that there are two big cluster in Africa (one occidental and one oriental) + some island species. Each of the big cluster needs a name (alcinoe for the occidental and ? caffra for the oriental) at species level. After, each needs to be seriously studied to determine if they need to be splited into ssp. Your specimen enter in the oriental. There are names available if necessary. Thierry
