Long unbroken character strings over around 72 characters kind mess up the page when they are posted in Classifieds ads, such as for eBay auctions. So instead of entering a long URL for an auction item, just direct the viewer to ebay.com and tell them to search on your item number. If you must enter the full URL please break it up into pieces not more that 72 characters each and instruct the viewers what you are doing.
BTW: The reason we do not allow *clickable* URLs in the body of a Classified ad is for security reasons: to lessen the chance that viewers will accidentally click into a malicious web page.
Thanks

You can also convert the very long URL into a tiny URL through this excellent web site: tinyurl.com/Here is a tiny URL for an item in my Ebay store that is 220 characters long that has been converted to 26 characters: tinyurl.com/6paly6t

It is easy to use, too. Simply copy and paste the long URL into the box and click on Create tiny URL and presto...you have it. Then copy and paste the tiny URL where you intended to paste the long one.

Clark, if you dont allow clickable links becus your afraid of ppl getting into a malicious web page, then tbh this will be even worse.
With this function the real link gets hidden "behind" a tinyurl. If ppl is out to scam you they can now hide their links, and other ppl would have NO idea what site they will be directed to.
Just my opinion.

Well then, the best way is to just give out the eBay item number.
