Non-native beetle found in Chile?

Hello all,

I’m from the US and have been living in downtown Santiago, Chile. Today an interesting beetle flew into my apartment. I believe I've correctly identified it as Phoracantha recurva, in the Cerambycidae Family. What I think is interesting is that, from what I’ve read, it isn’t native to Chile and this might be a new occurrence. Anyone care to chime in on this?

This beetle has been importated in many countries with Eucalyptus species. It is a real problem in Spain and South France, for example...

Interesting. They definitely are quite large. Took me off guard when it flew in.

P. recurva indeed, you can tell by the inwardly 'curved' spines on the second antennal segment.
Another species which has simple spines and is somewhat darker, has also become a serious pest of Eucalyptus spp. is the closely related P. semipunctata.
In Australia both species tend to attack recently dead and dying trees only, whereas reports from other countries suggest infestation upon healthy trees.
