A well-known cable TV documentary series is looking for an amazing butterfly collector. We’re looking for someone who’s taken it to the next level, where it’s really become an all-consuming passion and lifestyle -- someone who is admittedly obsessed. We want to learn about the world, warts and all. Since this is TV, we need people who are happy to appear on camera and share their story. If this sounds like you or someone you know, please get in touch with Julie. Thanks!

Wow, this should be interesting; would it be imposing to ask what TV show this is for? Because there are quite a few "amazing butterfly collectors" that visit this sight. I am not one of them, being more of a generalist insect collector myself; but if they choose to reveal themselves, the great butterfly collectors on this forum would certainly give you a hard time in choosing a candidate.
Of course that's assuming this is legitimate, I am somewhat predisposed to think that any offer made on the internet is a scam. This is due to the fact that the vast majority are and I tend to not trust anything or anyone at first contact. Anyway, may all your results from this post correspond qualitatively to the goodness/badness of the intentions you had in beginning this topic.

be carfeul as it can be a trap ! A portait can be manipulated and showed as one wants. Be sure of the honnest intention and aim of this TV ! insect hunters are not so well estimated by many people. I have yet participated to a documentary movie (Canal+ Channel) and they asked me to not show how to kill a moth that came at the light trap and just to put it alive in a big plastic box (completely irrealistic !). All must be soft and everything is scenarised regarding the aim of the realisator

We used to live in a little village and when we lived there we had 1 bus a week to go shoping, This was then going to taken off so the news came up to do a storry on it, When they came up thay asked for only the old and disabled to get on the bus and say how much thay rely on it, They even got people to get on it that normaly didn't get on it! So another example of how TV manipulates things to there need.

I would be a little leery of this as it could be intended to portray insect collectors in a negative light to the public.

I don't doubt it's real, but I'm very skeptical that they would make us crazy bug people look good. Words like "all-consuming", "obsessed", and "warts and all" make me think this might be for the show Animal Hoarders or something... where you're half shocked and half sad for the weird people they have on. Modern freakshow more than anything. You also never know what happens in editing...
I have a passion, not an obsession.
