Photographed in Libano, August 30th. This is the first time I try this forum. Hopefully someone are able to help. Good moth forums are more or less impossible to find. If this one gets a name or Genus I'll post s few more later. Attachments:

It kind of looks like a Notodontid, but go to Moth Photographer's Group, and check out the links, and go to Jim Vargo's site on the Moths of Peru, maybe you'll see something. The other possibility is to look for Seitz's volumes on the Noctuidae and Notodontidae of the Western Hemisphere. However, you will probably have to cross-reference to avoid any synonymy. I believe that you could probably find them in most large University libraries, and they could be acquired by interlibrary loan. Or, you could go the Entomological Reprint Specialists and see if they have copies for sale. Unfortunately, the moth fauna in SA is being revised in many cases, so identifications take awhile. I'm still working on a large group of Noctuidae, Notodontidae and other families from the North Yungas region in Bolivia. Jeff Prill

Thank you for this information, Jeff. I think maybe all the work to ID my SA moths will be too complicated. I'm just a travelling birder, sometimes getting a few moth photos at lodges. Even so, I'll post some of my most obvious moths here. If I'm very lucky one or two might get identified. If not, it's not a big problem.
