It isn't too unusual (in recent years at least) to see the odd insect flying around in November in the UK. This November however, I have seen dragonflies, butterflies and honey bees, not to mention a couple of ground beetles and parasitic wasps, in some numbers.
Last Friday a friend of mine found a female Anax dragonfly half alive on the banks of the River Kennet near Newbury. He gave it to me, I'm preserving it at the moment.
Anyone else spotted any unseasonal insects?

I have seen several red admirals, v atalanta while out walking the dog this week, this is quite unusual for South Yorkshire this late in the year, they are usually finished by late october, also the number of flies coming into the house when the doors are open is unusual too but it has been a very mild november.

There are still several Red Admirals and a Peacock still flying in my garden plus a number of Garden Tiger moth larvae crawing around , & gnats coming indoors.

The long term forecast is for the mild weather to last several more weeks, at this rate we'll have butterflies at Christmas - what a contrast to last year!

Last year I saw 3 Inachis io flying in a wood the 25th of December in Brittany ! :-)
True that this fall is very hot and sunny in Northern France (guess it is the same in the UK).
