i always want to know, please tell me if you have experiences, in china, buprestidae never come to light trap. that is also one of the reasons they are very very hard to find,at least for the most species.
but how about in africa? and other tropical countries especially? please share your knowledge.

following hundreds night hunting Africa I never seen coming at light trap except those by accident (same frequence as some butterflies or dayflying beetles) nor I heard that buprestid came at light ! Buprestid are heliophile, they like very much hot and sun !

I've had a couple of species of Dicerca, Chrysobothris, and a few Agrilus come into my lights at night. It depends on how much you disturb the area. Believe me when you see them you know that you've done your job well, especially if it turns out to be a little rare. Jeff Prill

I always see them during the hottest months during the hottest parts of the day. I find them on flowers or resting on tree trunks or buildings, etc.

In Australia we have Merimna atrata (fire jewel beetle) they're black and nocturnal, never find them during the day. Always under light or fire at the right time of the year. I even found them in numbers at Darwin airport under light. The only Buprestidae loves inver reds heat from light or fire and found throught out inland Australia.

generally burprestids don`t come to light If they do it is very rare and like othe readers mention by accident or disturbance , sometimes storms will disloge them from trees at night and they fly to the closest light source. In Australia yes Merimna atra is attracted to light , as far as I know this is the only Buprestid in the world that flies at night and is attracted to burning tree stumps by the heat and will lay its eggs there .
