we collect insects,bu their evolution were relatively litten knewn and there're little infomation about the insects evolution from internet.
i think it's necessary to know about their begining for coleoptera lovers.
who has links about Lucanidae's evolution? and Lucanidae were originally from what family? it would be so great if anyone has Tree diagram!!
this is just a discussion about a family----Lucanidae,there're other families which were the same situation with Lucanidae that were little knewn.

If you want to know where Lucanidae is coming from, all you hae do is to look at all the Nicagus sp, Sinoderdron sp, Aesalus sp, Syndesus sp....... They are the most primitive Lucanidae in the world.

Dr. Crowson,i searched by key words from google,difficult to find, Jeff do you have links so i could directly open to take a look? Thank You! Syndesus yes i saw a picture from inertnet of fossil,primitive lucanidae perhaps also included insectnet.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=932 this one looks close with Ceruchus and also Diphyllostoma,which was found only in Cannifonia(USA),only 3 sp. were recorded in this genus,their life was little knewn. BTW,where did you got thouse info.?
