Well just about an hr ago I found out my neice was digging in the tank where my hickory horned devil was. She dug into the dirt and it looks like she broke open my hickory horned devils pupate I was wondering if I covered it back up if it would still be ok? I feel really bad. I must say though, that the pupate of this larva is much MUCH smaller than he was before he pupated.

May he rest it peace. There is not much hope for recovery after breaking the pupae.

No way! Man that sucks! Do you know what exactly goes on in there that kills them when the pupate is broken? Like, what happens to them? When you say there is not MUCH HOPE...do you mean that he still has a chance or that there is no chance at all of him making it?

If it just a very small puncture then there is a chance that it could still survive, though it would probably emerge as a crippled adult specimen. Imagine if your chest cavity was punctured. You would be in serious trouble!
