there are several dozen of these insects underneath my Mulberry tree in northwest Indiana. They are difficult to photograph because they are very quick and they dig into the soil very quickly when startled. they vary in size from around .5 centimeter to 1 centimeter. Sorry for the poor quality of the photographs. The red portion is their head and the tan portion is the rest. I am originally from Minnesota and I have never seen these before and I couldn't find them in my field guide. Any help would be appreciated, and I could attempt to take some better photographs a little later. Attachments:
