On saturday(June 18),I collected for the first time in my life a great pair of Aegomorphus krueperi(they were mating) - a rare Lamiinae Cerambycid ENDEMIC to mainland Greece ! I collected them by chance in a Quercus forest, while collecting Lucanus cervus. They are so beautiful and I'm happy that cought myself a difficult and interesting species . I have them alive at the moment. (I've read that this species was recorded for Bulgaria by Bringmann(1997),but this requires confirmation). Thanos

Here I have them mounted(above the male, below the female on the pic) together with a big male of L.cervus, with which I collected them together. This Quercus forest is in C.Greece, but NOT at Meteora(the well-known locality for this species, where I haven't searched yet for this species myself). This exact Quercus habitat is very valuable,as,in addition to A.krueperi,I have also found many other important species, like: Lepidoptera: Iolana iolas,Satyrium spini(Lycaenids),Hemaris croatica(Sphingidae),... Coleoptera: the A.krueperi(ENDEMIC to Greece) and also:Cerambyx cerdo,Cerambyx miles,Cribridorcadion thessalicum(found only in Greece and Bulgaria),Lucanus cervus(c.cervus,c.turcicus and intermediates..),Osmoderma lassallei(found only in Greece and European Turkey),Elater ferrugineus:a rare saproxylic Elaterid which, together with the saproxylic O.lassallei show the significance of a saproxylic habitat ! Also Chaetocarabus arcadicus arcadicus(ENDEMIC to Greece),the rare Tenebrionid Diaperis boleti under the outer coverage of Quercus trunks,etc.. So,as I've found all these important species in this forest,it is really a GREAT habitat, which must be kept.. Thanos Attachments:
