Well presented. I have a question. Please be aware that asking this question in no way indicates I deny the science. In fact, questioning is one of the best tools of science.
MY experience is that purple and pink are a more uncommon occurrence. Does the video mean that blue as a pigment is more uncommon than purple in nature? Blue as a color as perceived by an eye seems more common than purple or pink. Blue as a pigment is more uncommon is how I understand the video.
The video references on blue in insects via structure shows metallic/iridescence. So,if I understand correctly, even less brightly (non iridescent) blue is also structural. Fantastic.

Yes it is about blue as a pigment which is a very rare occurrence. There is plenty of blue in nature (after the most common colors green, brown, yellow, red), but it is created through various physical or chemical tricks. You may underestimate pink and purple by thinking about animals only, but they are very common colors in flowers.

I am interested in a lot of things, if you are ever bored look up the stories of Ultramarine, Prussian blue, and YInMn blue. I listed them in their order of discovery. Prussian blue had a big impact in the creation of Japanese woodcuts from what I could see. Yttrium, indium, and manganese blue is currently making big news as new products have been created using this newest blue pigment.

It was an interesting video, I love that guy's shirt, I'd probably be more likely to wear a collared shirt. There is a lot of stuff on Youtube, I just discovered how much a couple months ago searching for Charlie Chan movies. I always thought it was a platform for people doing questionably intelligent things.
