For those of us who drink beer

I have always wanted to have a beer bottle opener shaped like a beetle. I had pictured the horns of a Dynastes or the jaws of a Dorcus species as forming perfect shapes for that. I looked for a long time and the only things I found were very crude at best. They were made out of cheap metal and didn't look at all realistic. I even briefly toyed with the idea of learning to cast metal so I could make my own. I quickly figured out it would take way more time and money than I was willing to spend. So, I pretty much gave up on that dream...

Fast forward 5-6 years - A month ago I was looking again at those crappy bottle openers and noticed that there was a new recommendation. This was a beautifully cast stag beetle opener that had just incredible detail (pitted pronotum, segmented antennae, palps, etc.). I immediately bought one. It arrived a couple weeks ago and it is just awesome. It's relatively small, but feels substantial. It ships from overseas (China?) but comes really nicely packaged and vacuum sealed.

I'm not trying to sell anyone on these, but thought people might appreciate the artistry that's been achieved. They have some other insect related items, like grasshopper lighter holders and Dynastes keychain clips.

Any other thoughts on insects that would make a good design for a bottle opener?

It is a neat opener, I suppose it opens soda bottles as well. Looks like a person could claim they found it in a tomb, looks like something Indy would
bring back.

Dynastes might make an opener as well, with the top mandible being longer than the bottom.

I'll think about it, I can open my ultra expensive rootbeer and Stewart's grape sodas.

I also thought some of the rhino beetles would work well. Some of them have really sturdy short horns on the pronotum and a little longer horn on the head. Xylotrupes and some similar types seem like they would work well.
