I have been keeping a few hard-bodied insects from my property in the freezer until I have the equipment/space/time to pin them.
Can I keep soft-bodied insects/arachnids in the freezer too until I place them in alcohol, or is this a bad idea? Will it dry the specimens out? What about for larvae that need boiling first?

A lot of us keep specimens in the freezer without any issues, usually Lepidoptera, I've kept species as large bodied as Attacus without an issue.
It should work with anything, I don't know about larva, it'll either work, or they'll turn to mush when unthawed.

Sure thing, I should have mentioned I keep them papered and in a tupperware style container, mostly for protection.
I've kept butterflies in the freezer as long as a year, and while I didn't use them myself, sold them as frozen specimens,
and the buyer said he set them the same day they arrived in the post. Anyone that breeds always ends up with extra, even singles
I save and have been able to find a use for down the line.
