Beetles of Israel for sale. Inexpensive. Ptashkovsky@rambler.ru Indeed, I am making a deal with him and he seems to be really nice (don't ask for payment before having caught beetles, sending fotos of the beetles he caught, etc...). Stéphane

Hi Olivier,
Which species are you looking for in Provence ?
I will collect in Spain in July, particularly Coleoptera, but if you are looking for particular species, let me know !

Nice post!
I started collecting at 14-15 years old, 15 years ago.
I developped my passion with a French forum 10 years ago (www.insecte.org). I have met a lot of specialists (Denis Keith for Melolonthidae and Rutelidae, Pierre Tauzin for Cetoniidae, Alain Audureau for Cerambycidae, Daniel Prunier for Carabidae, etc...), and now, I build a collection of coleoptera (mainly Scarabaeoidea).

N°. 4 seems to be Protaetia sp. (Cetonia have quite different habitus), but, I need to see the under side and a better view of upper side for giving an ID.
But, it could be P. (Netocia) cyanea or P. (Netocia) armeniaca var. coerulea. Could you give us more details about location?
For Plaesiorrhina/Plaesiorrhinella, I can't give ID without aedeagus.
Regards,
Stéphane

pic.5 : Stethodesma stachiani pic.6 & 7: Plaesiorhina sp.
It should be really easier to post a single species in each post...

Some people have work on reasons of teratologic cases.
In France, Dr Balazuc have written many articles on this subject (about Coleoptera).

Entomologists can't be considered as insects species destructors. For instance, Carabus species are very hunt by collectors, but studies show that there is no variation in populations density.
BUT destruction of large parts of forests, wet zones, etc... make lots of species disappeared.
