I have collected them myself near Qamdo in Eastern Tibet. Some chinese Dealers know this and give you that locality, but I am quite sure that they have not found them there since I explained to one chinese collector where to search for them and he did not find them. One place is also about 60 km North of the town Zhongdian(N-Yunnan)on the road to Tibet( a small river crossed the main road, this place I got from italian collectors ,they got only 1 male there couple of years ago) I have bought 2 years ago also some from Tibet.....but later I got from my supplier the correct place: Batang(Sichuan)thats a place Close to the tibetan Border and should be correct since a german Museum has a old series from there I guess that most on the market come from Batang Robert

I have been once in the first week of january.the northern part had always lot of heavy rainfalls.Inbetween the rainfalls you can find some butterflies. There are not many places you can collect in the green North. All is so steep and on flat places you will find houses.I had to collect most times direct along the roads . the southern Part has been extremely dry and I found few old and damaged Anaea borinquenalis near the coast in a very dry part with Acacia and Cactus...but did not feel well at all there...... some stolen cars have been around in the bush and "strange" People from time to time have been around. In total very few butterflies during beginning of january. I have collected over 10 years ago on my trips to China and Tibet Lycaena tseng, pang,pavana(India),ouang,standfussi...but most are flying in so small places and very concentrated to the foodplants,so that you can walk only few meters close to the places without seeing them...it is just lot of luck to find them and once you know the localities and plants you find the adults sitting on,it is easier to locate them. The place from where these all come(Zentral Ecuador in a Zone between dry and humid mountains within only few km) is so rich on diversity of Butterflies, specialy on Satyridae. I still have some species to spread and determine.
