Maybe katydid eggs? I remember finding these these quite often as a kid but I never tried to rear any.

First, the Chicago Art Institute story already has us talking here at work (I work for a non-profit that depends on charitable giving). In the non-profit world, there is incredible pressure to become more relevant to a wider swath of humanity. If an organizations wants to remain relevant to society, it needs to embrace society as a whole. Otherwise, I'd expect the group to decline as it becomes irrelevant to the future. That said, most non-profits depend today on the generosity of their "effluent volunteers" to pay the bills. Maybe it was supposed to be affluent volunteers?? Or maybe not. image upload

I took some at the gas station lights in Mountain View Wyoming as a teenager and last year there were tons of Larva on a ridge near the Gooseberry Campground in Central Utah. Seems like a very local species here.

Mike, you finished? BTW, that's an incredible canadensis. I think we are about finished, seems like the temps will stay high enough for the next few weeks that there are still a few things flying but most everything interesting is done. There are still a few Hemileuca species that still fly this late.

What is the access status of Guadeloupe Canyon? Walk-in only? Is collecting allowed nowadays?
Does the host plant occur in the US portion of the Peloncillos?
