Wow, thank you very much!
I would love to photograph a toe-biter. Heck, I’d enjoy keeping one as a pet! They occur here, but they aren’t very common. In fact I have never seen one. I’ve actually considered importing some from the US just to photograph one!
Cheers, EC

Thank you very much—I really appreciate it! I see that you are in Brazil—I am jealous of the fantastic insect diversity you have in your country! Cheers, EC www.macrocritters.wordpress.com

Hi all, As promised (in another thread) I posted some much nicer photos of a predaceous diving beetle on my blog last night, along with an explanation of how I took them. This one is my favourite... Cheers, EC www.macrocritters.wordpress.comAttachments:

Hi all, I posted this photo on my blog last night, along with an explanation of how I used Photoshop to salvage the picture. Later today I will be posting some nicer pictures of this same critter... Cheers, EC www.macrocritters.wordpress.comAttachments:

Hi all, I am a marine biologist and nature photographer in Vancouver, Canada. I am a complete novice when it comes to entomology. Sometimes I will put out a fish carcass to attract flies and wasps, but most of my insect photography has consisted of me wandering around my garden. I would like to expand my efforts to find interesting insects, arachnids and other arthropods to photograph. The problem is that I really don’t know where I should be looking to find greater diversity to photograph. I live near the ocean and a major river with a lot of farm land. Lots of parks, but most are just grass. There is some forest within a short drive however. I know this is a real “newbie” question—and I apologize for that—but any suggestions and tips would be very welcome. Cheers, EC www.macrocritters.wordpress.com

Hi all, The photo below is of a very small fly stuck on the leaf of a Drosera (sundew) in my bog garden. It is one of the photos I just posted on my blog (there is another image of the same species). Can anyone help identify it? I am located in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Thanks, EC www.macrocritters.wordpress.comAttachments:
