I know researchers who have done entomological fieldwork a number of years ago in Indonesia including those mentioned in the article. They said the red tape/bureaucracy was bad then. I can't imagine with this new law how it is now.

That’s why governments are introducing ban on collecting and researching for international scientists, so no one is aware of what’s going on inside the country in terms of deforestation and corruption.

Silencing dissenters and/or learning can be a weapon, like money, often used to gain and keep power. Appears that Entomology rarely makes money unless it is used for pesticide research (though I am doing reasonably well with this hobby). Other than teaching children (future leaders) to act with thought to consequences rather than with greed or "feelings," what other actions do yall suggest?

I had been preaching about this ### for years. No one seems to care enough to alter their shopping habits, however. Not even my family. They're too far removed from it. They agree it's a big problem that they are all part of. But as far as shopping smarter. No, just no. People are too caught up in their own ###e.
